Calculus exam over!
Submitted by michael on Fri, 12/11/2009 - 15:40My MA141 (Calculus 1) final countdown exam is over! And, instead of the bitter sting of abject failure that I felt after each of the 4 other tests, I actually think I did (somewhat)(relatively) well. Yay!
New server specs
Submitted by michael on Thu, 12/10/2009 - 14:25I posted a few days earlier that I had upgraded the webserver for my site. Here are the new specs:
Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.00gHz
Intel 875/ICH5 chipset
2GB DDR RAM
500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA HDD
3Com 3c905cx-tx ethernet adapter
Kubuntu 10.04 w/ custom 2.6.32-zen kernel
Apache 2.2.14, PHP 5.3.1 fcgi, eAccelerator 0.9.6rc, MySQL 5.1.37
Drupal 6.14 with a bunch of add-on modules
The new server runs pretty much the same software arrangement as the old one, but has significantly faster hardware. The ethernet card is the same, though. Even though the new server has an inbuilt ethernet adapter, I used the 3Com unit because it supports hardware checksumming and scatter/gather. I had originally planned to transfer over the SQL database and the Drupal installation from the old server, but when I was attempting to install the old server's hard disk in the new one, I accidentally plugged in the PATA connector upside-down. Because the key position was blocked, this caused one of the pins on the hard disk to be pushed in, rendering the hard disk useless. Therefore, I had to start fresh.
First exam over!
Submitted by michael on Wed, 12/09/2009 - 14:37Earlier today, I just took my Economics final exam. It was quite challenging, since there was no study guide. However, my other grades in the class are so high that I am almost sure I made an A for the class. Now off to study for my Calculus exam. Ugh.
Oops...
Submitted by michael on Mon, 12/07/2009 - 05:52So today, I went to upgrade my server to a new computer (which it is running on now, can't you see the speed difference?). I was planning on just transferring over all the data from the old computer to the new one, to have my site back up instantly. However, I plugged the old hard drive into the new computer Upside-down, pushing in one of the pins, and ruining the disk. So, I had to start over from scratch. If you had a user account before, you will need to recreate it.
